About Humanist Ceremonies
Are Humanist marriages legal?
Yes. Humanist marriages have been legally recognised in Northern Ireland since 2018, with same-sex marriages becoming legal in 2020. This has given hundreds of couples the freedom to choose a wedding ceremony that is personal, meaningful, and legally valid – without religious content.
Why have a Humanist ceremony?
A humanist ceremony puts you at the centre. There’s no fixed script, no set structure, and no expectation to do things a certain way. You have the freedom to create a ceremony that reflects who you are and how you love.
Your wedding can take place almost anywhere – in a field, a forest, a museum, or a boutique hotel. It can be an intimate elopement or a more traditional celebration surrounded by family and friends. Humanist ceremonies are known for being relaxed, flexible, easy-going, and genuinely joyful.
Most importantly, you decide the style, tone, and format of your ceremony. My role is to guide you through the process and help you shape a wedding that feels authentic, inclusive, and truly yours.
